Polished Concrete Perth

Perth Polished Concrete

A finished floor ground out of the slab itself — choose your aggregate exposure and gloss, densified and sealed to handle real traffic.

Polished Concrete in Perth

Polished concrete turns a plain structural slab into a finished floor by mechanically grinding and refining the surface through progressively finer diamond tooling. The result is a hard-wearing, low-maintenance floor with a depth and reflectivity no coating can imitate, because the finish is the concrete itself rather than a layer sitting on top of it.

It has become a standard choice for Perth homes, warehouses, showrooms, cafes and offices. There is no covering to lift or replace, it handles heavy traffic, it does not hold dust the way carpet does, and it works well with the light and open-plan layouts common in newer builds.

Grind Levels, Exposure and Finish Options

Two decisions shape the look. Aggregate exposure determines how much stone shows: a cream or salt-and-pepper finish grinds back only lightly, while a full exposure cut goes deeper to reveal the larger aggregate through the slab.

Gloss level is the second decision, running from a matte honed surface through satin to a high-gloss mirror finish. Higher gloss reads as more reflective, while honed and satin finishes hide marks better and suit high-traffic areas. Densifiers and penetrating sealers are applied to harden the surface and improve stain resistance.

What Makes A Slab Suitable

Not every slab polishes well. Slab flatness, the aggregate used in the mix, the depth of cover over reinforcement, existing cracks, patches and previous coatings all affect what is achievable and how the finished floor will look.

We assess the slab before quoting and tell you honestly what exposure and gloss level it will realistically reach. Where a slab is not suited to a full polish, a honed finish or an overlay often gives a better result than forcing a finish the concrete cannot hold.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful answers for Perth property owners planning concrete driveways, repairs, resurfacing and durable concrete surfaces.

What is polished concrete?

Polished concrete is a slab mechanically ground and refined with progressively finer diamond tooling, then densified and sealed, producing a finished floor from the concrete itself.

Is polished concrete slippery?

A polished floor is no more slippery than other hard floors when dry, and slip resistance can be improved with the right sealer or a lower gloss level. Water on a high-gloss floor does reduce grip, as it does on tile.

How much does polished concrete cost in Perth?

Cost depends on area, slab condition, the exposure and gloss level required, how much preparation and repair is needed, and site access. Large open areas are cheaper per square metre than small, cut-up spaces.

Can an existing slab be polished?

Often yes. We assess flatness, cracking, previous coatings and the depth of cover over reinforcement to determine what finish the slab can reach.

How do I maintain a polished concrete floor?

Regular dust mopping and cleaning with a neutral pH cleaner is generally enough. Avoid acidic cleaners, and reapply sealer periodically in high-traffic areas.

Does polished concrete crack?

Existing cracks can be filled and will remain visible as a feature line. Concrete continues to move, so new hairline cracking is possible, although it rarely affects how the floor performs.
